One of my best additions to my hunting kit over last few months has been the Ignitor Jacket, for me this has changed my kit structure for the best.
A great example of this is a recent super light over night trip into Canterbury high country chasing chamois and red skins while sleeping under the Stealth Fly, the Ignitor Jacket was my first pick option for all round warmth and taking up the smallest amount of space in the Buller Pack.
The trip was typical hot days changing to cold evening at dark, this is where the Ignitor Jacket comes into its on. With dusk and dawn glassing for animals I usually find the core looses its warmth and get chills in lower back while naturally moving round, the Ignitor Jacket has a longer back which can be nicely tuck under yourself as you sit but not restricting movements while glassing animals. As sun comes up and we lock in with a animal the Ignitor Jacket gets quickly compressed into its own transport bag that reduces down to a incredible small size to take up minimal room in the pack.
The day played out text book with nice stalk off tops into valley to secure a nice meat animal at with a clean shot to vitals at 160mtr. A great animal to full the pack off to brim to keep summer BBQ running. All meat loaded in returning to tops the day cools off quickly and the ignitor comes out soon as we hit camp to trap that body heat. The other great part is the water proof technology that means the gentle evening drizzle that comes in while cooking some fresh lion on the cooker doesn’t require a change into a water proof layer.
The Ignitor Jacket’s size ticks so many boxes and punchs well above its weight for it warmth and is a greatly valued laying system for over night and even day trips where you require warmth while glassing for those animals to feed the whanau.
